ClubWPT Gold will end sweepstakes poker services for players physically located in Nevada on Monday, Sept. 28, shrinking its U.S. footprint from 42 states to 41. Purchases have already been suspended, and the company is no longer accepting postal requests from Nevada players for free promotional currency.
Nevada customers can continue entering poker games through Sept. 28, but have been told to redeem or withdraw remaining balances by Oct. 2. ClubWPT Gold described the move as a wind-down in response to state regulatory action, according to PokerNews.
The operator did not identify the particular regulation or enforcement measure behind its decision. It said its services would continue in its other supported U.S. jurisdictions.
ClubWPT Gold uses a sweepstakes model rather than a conventional real-money poker structure. Players buy poker-hand analysis and receive chips as part of the package, while eligible users can redeem prizes under the platform’s rules. One ClubWPT Gold chip is worth $1 when cashed out.
Poker.pro reported that Nevada’s SB 256, enacted in 2025, broadened the state’s unlicensed-gambling statutes to encompass dual-currency platforms without explicitly naming the model. ClubWPT Gold had operated through its Hand Analysis structure and maintained that the revised product fell outside the law, but Nevada regulators disagreed, the outlet reported.
The withdrawal leaves WSOP Online as Nevada’s only licensed real-money online poker product and removes the state’s remaining sweepstakes poker alternative. WSOP Online participates in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement with New Jersey and Delaware.
The shutdown does not affect the live WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. However, Nevada players will no longer be able to use ClubWPT Gold’s online qualification route for the December events. The $400 Super Gold Million is scheduled for Dec. 10-14, while the WPT World Championship runs from Dec. 13-20.
