Stake.us launched Poker Mid Month Madness on Saturday, offering an 8 SC buy-in Progressive Knockout tournament with a guaranteed 24,000 SC prize pool. PokerListings had described the event as a one-time tournament scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
The format pays players for eliminating opponents during play rather than solely according to final leaderboard position. Each entrant starts with a bounty, and a knockout earns the winning player half of the eliminated entrant’s bounty as immediately credited playable funds; the other half is added to the winner’s own bounty.
That structure means bounties rise as players make eliminations. For example, TheLines said that a player carrying a 10 SC bounty who knocked out an opponent with a 20 SC bounty would receive 10 SC immediately, while their own bounty would rise to 20 SC. If more than one player eliminates a single entrant, the eliminated player’s bounty is divided evenly among the winning hands.
Players still in the event when it ends receive a share of the guaranteed pool, although the specific allocation of that pool had not been announced. TheLines advised players to check the Stake.us platform for those details.
Separate coverage from PokerStrategy described a Stake Poker Mid Month Madness event with an $8 buy-in and a $48,000 guaranteed prize pool, scheduled for 17:00 UTC. It also said registration was available directly through the tournament lobby, without a qualification stage, and that tables seated eight players with a bounty assigned to every seat. The differing reported prize pools, currencies and start times leave the precise relationship between those descriptions unclear.
